Research, practitioner & policy workshop Co-hosted by CISRUL, Institute for Inspiring Children’s Futures (IICF), Children and Young People’s Centre for Justice (CYCJ), Scottish Council on Global Affairs (SCGA), Change for Change UK, and Edinburgh University’s Childhood and Youth Studies Research Group (CYS)Description
An SCGA-funded workshop in March 2025 considered how different countries deal with children in conflict with the law. Andy Ashworth of Chance for Change UK described the approach taken by Malawi and Ijeoma Pamela Akubue discussed the case of Nigeria. Here, we assess the approach taken by Mexico, which has closed its equivalent of Scotland’s Secure Care Facilities and is dealing with adolescents by getting them to participate in mediation with victims, often resulting in payments to victims.| Period | Mar 2025 |
