Description

This event launched the publication of a new thematic issue of European Judaism: Displacement, Memory and the Visual Arts: Second-Generation (Jewish) Artists. The publication, which brings together contributions by artists, curators and academics and is based on an online symposium on the same topic held in May 2021, explores second-generation visual art practices in the UK, as well as the Netherlands, Canada and Israel.

After a short presentation of the volume by co-editors Imogen Wiltshire (University of Lincoln) and Fransiska Louwagie (University of Aberdeen) there is a panel with artists Monica Petzal, Judy Goldhill and Sara Davidmann who each discuss an artwork, offering insights into their second-generation art and memory practices. The panel and Q&A is moderated by founding director of Insiders/Outsiders and contributor to the special issue Monica Bohm-Duchen.
