'In the Archives Something Stirred', Wigtown Book Festival

Activity: Disseminating Research Exhibition/Festival

Activity

During this event at Wigtown Book Festival, I performed a showcase of my research and new creative work following my year as the National Library of Scotland's Scots Scriever.

Description

Event description:
'The National Library of Scotland's Scots Scriever shares new prose and poetry inspired by the nation's Scots archives. Readings will include real-life stories set in 1990s small-town Scotland linked to the 18th Century ballad repertoire of Anna Gordon, included in Walter Scott's Minstrelsy of the Scottish Border. He will discuss the country's linguistic heritage, celebrating the surprising number of Scots words and phrases that are shared from the southwest to the north east of Scotland.'
