International interdisciplinary four-day conference to mark the fiftieth anniversary of Hannah Arendt's two semesters at University of Aberdeen and her delivery of the Gifford lectures here 1973 and 1974;

Description

30 invited international scholars from U.S., Canada, Eire, Poland, Hungary, Finland, Germany, Sweden, Turkey, Netherlands, Italy, Belgium and UK; keynote speakers Professors Ronald Beiner (Toronto), Juliet Hooker (Brown), Sharon Achinstein (Johns Hopkins), Kathryn Belle (Penn State). Up to 50 additional attendees per day plus attendees at 4 public lectures by keynote speakers. International Hannah Arendt Online Reading Group as part of wider Arendt in Aberdeen project to raise awareness of Arendt's Aberdeen associations and discuss her work: March 2023- present. Conference funded internally by University of Aberdeen (£18,000), SLLMVC £2,500 and W. Bednarowski Trust (External) £5,000; forthcoming conference proceedings publication, co-editors Helen Lynch, Hanifi Baris and Michael Brown.
