Activity
Organising and chairing international workshop
Description
Organised by Derek Scott, University of Aberdeen, UK
Higher education institutions across the world are currently wrestling with the challenge of planning for next academic year. With the impact of COVID-19 expected to continue for the next few months, most institutions are facing the reality that some learning and teaching activities will have to be delivered online rather than face to face. Anyone involved in teaching knows that it is much easier to engage with and support your students if you can interact with them in the classroom. With fewer face to face teaching sessions running, the big challenge we face is how to engage and support students effectively.
Join Louise Robson (University of Sheffield, UK) and Jackie Carnegie (University of Ottawa, Canada) provided concrete examples of how student engagement and support can be done well online, including how blending different digital technologies can be used to interact with students and how maze building software can be used to construct feedback-oriented exercises that students complete online.
