Mobile measurement of path transparency

Activity: Disseminating Research Invited talk

Description

Large network often contains devices to provide in-network functionality for economic or regulatory reasons. Mobile broadband networks are no exception to this. Either by design, through poor implementation, or misconfiguration, these devices can introduce impairments to user traffic. PATHspider is a tool that can be used to detect and measure such impairments. It has been used extensively to detect impairments in the core of the Internet and is also applicable to measuring from the mobile edge with the MONROE testbed. The MONROE testbed is the first European transnational open platform for independent, large-scale monitoring and assessment of the performance of mobile broadband networks in heterogeneous environments.
