Description

The celebrated fiddler-composer Nathaniel Gow was a regular visitor to Dalkeith Palace in the early 19th century, as music tutor and leader of the most popular dance band of the day. Most famously, he was summoned to lead the band during the visit of George IV in 1822. This talk will explore Gow’s legacy in the history of the Scottish dance band and his importance in the musical culture at Dalkeith Palace.
