Conference at the Pauline Monastery of Jasna Góra in Częstochowa, Poland, 2-5 December 2015, dedicated to the signing of the Treaty of Kiejdany which broke the Polish-Lithuanian Union and agreed on Lithuanian collaboration with the Swedes during the Swedish-Polish War of 1655-60. The paper explores the special role of Bogusław Radziwiłł, a Lithuanian magnate, who became first governor of the Duchy of Prussia, under the Hohenzollern Dynasty of Brandenburg.
