    Personal profile

    Google scholar H-index : 14.

I am an agri-bioenergy-environmental modeller and inquiries are welcome to discuss collaborations as a co-author or co-investigator.

I am a Supergen Bioenergy research fellow and manage the SUMMER project, modelling the crop yield and upscaling potential for a seed-propogated miscanfor hybrid which also involves crop measurements and grower questionnaires. This links with Aberystwyth's GRACE project. I administer the development of the global MiscanFor model with Dr Astley Hastings for bioenergy crop growth, environmental effects and energy production. I have modified the model to use at two spatial scales under climate scenarios, and extended the model from its previous version, with modified water restriction on growth, two alternate evapo-transpiration modules, development of a soil carbon sequestration-decomposition procedure, and enhanced visual output.

I am also a named researcher on a large UKRI project for four-and-a-half years, in which researchers at Aberystwyth’s Institute for Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences (IBERS) will lead a consortium of partners to develop biomass crops.

Previously, I won an industrial fellowship, working with the Terravesta bioenergy company and its growers to refine crop yield in commerical settings. This was a useful collaboratiuon which continues.

Formerly, I was an agri-environmental modeller in sustainable grassland and nutrient cycling working at Rothamsted Research for 9.5 years, and previously to that I worked in Canadian agriculture to model water resources and drought occurrence. I use agri-systems models to provide future scenarios under different management systems or climate changes.
