Description / Abstract
People with cystic fibrosis suffer damage to the pancreas which over time, reduces their ability to produce insulin. In some patients, this progresses to diabetes. The onset of diabetes can be insidious, and it can cause damage before symptoms of diabetes occur and lead to diagnosis. There are different screening tests, some less popular than others. The aims of this project are to review the evidence on whether screening is worthwhile, and to examine which test, or combination of tests, may be best. Screening would only be worthwhile if it led to changes in treatment which affected outcomes, so we will review the evidence for that as well.
