Abstract
Flash points for four liquid organic compounds-m-Xylene, n-butanol, n-decane and n-dodecane-are calculated on the principle that the fire point occurs when the pressure of the vapour is 1.5 times the stoichiometric value. Fire points so calculated are compared with experimental values from the literature, and agreement is very good.
