Abstract
Using Semenov boundary conditions, thermal ignition theory is applied to laundered clothing in a tumble dryer. Before the theory could be effectively applied, an analysis of heat transfer from the outside surface of the drum of the dryer to the surroundings was necessary. The final conclusion is that with neither natural nor synthetic fabrics as payload is spontaneous ignition possible.
