Abstract
Whether you are a fervent Remainer, an ardent Brexiteer, or somewhere in between the two extremes, it is sensible to recognise that Brexit will not be entirely good or entirely bad, regardless of your position. This is certainly the case regarding the environment, and in particular environmental planning. On one hand, substantial environmental governance standards and regulatory drivers come down to the UK from the European Union – and severance from the EU provides dangerous opportunities to water down, prune out, or otherwise dispose of these protections. That concern is real, and genuine.
