Abstract
The book focuses on Richard of Saint Victor's twelfth-century commentary on the Book of Ezekiel and the many architectural drawings he provides to illustrate the prophet's vision. It shows that the drawings are derived from contemporary developments in the practice of geometry, from which Richard borrows words such as 'plan' to describe his drawings, making him the first author to do so. The book includes analysis of other examples of architectural exegesis to contextualise Richard's work.
