Abstract

The pink-footed goose population breeding in Svalbard had increased dramatically over the last few decades. The population increase, corresponding range expansion and a changing climate suggest a substantially increased potential for disturbance of the Svalbard tundra caused by grazing geese. This calls for monitoring of the pink-footed goose population and its impact on the tundra landscape.
