Abstract
The book looks at historical imaginations of Poland-Lithuania through archival sources, maps, histories and memoirs. The article focuses on the allegiances of one of the country's aristocratic families and specifically the last heir of the Protestant line of the Radziwill family in the mid-seventeenth century, who was accused of treason. His cooperation with foreign powers and the nature of this 'betrayal' are examined in the light of the very large archives of correspondence and memoirs he left us.
