Preface: Catalysis Today

This special issue of Catalysis Today entitled Environmental Catalysis contains selected contributions in the field of heterogeneous catalysis and photocatalysis that were presented at the 8th International Conference on Environmental Catalysis (ICEC 2014). This conference was held during 24–27 August 2014 at Asheville, NC, USA. Asheville is a beautiful and scenic place with the historic Grove Park Inn resort, the venue of the conference. ICEC is a biannual meeting which focuses on recent technical developments and challenges in the area of environmental catalysis. The 8th ICEC was chaired by Dr. Todd Toops from Oak Ridge National Laboratory and was attended by more than 400 participants from academic research, applied research, and industries.Researchers actively participated in the sessions and other conference activities, which was highlighted by the great attendance in the plenary lectures and oral presentations, as well as by the lively discussions around the poster sessions. The conference also included a new session, entitled oral poster session. This involved a combination of a short oral talk and
a poster session after the talk
