Abstract

It was a pleasure to welcome delegates to the annual conference of the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) in November 2016. This was held at the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in the City of London, with fabulous views directly out over Westminster Cathedral and the Houses of Parliament. There was an extremely full and varied program over
2 days meaning that delegates had little time to go sightseeing! The numbers of delegates attending the conference has increased every year and 2016 was no exception, with almost a thousand delegates and 26 exhibitors, including
representatives from all the major echocardiography companies. Lectures were spread over three auditoria during the conference, with parallel sessions meaning
that there were plenty of options from which to choose. In addition, there were practical training sessions using simulators for hands-on experience, and live discussions during the breaks on hot topics in echocardiography, both technical and societal.
