This colloquium was organized by the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research of the Polish
Academy of Sciences and was held at Jablonna near Warsaw, from 26 to 30 August 1979. It was the second
of a series of Euromech meetings devoted to the dynamic response of plastic continua and structures.
Unlike the first one (Euromech 83), where no specific technological problems were addressed, the interest
of the present colloquium was directed to the response of thin-walled structures with application to the'collision
protection of vehicles. There were 36 participants; the represention of members of country being as follows:
England 3, Finland l, France 7, Germany l, Hungary 4, Italy 2, Poland 14, Sweden l, United States 2 and
Vietnam I.
The 32 contributed papers are divided into five relatively uniform subject groups;
1. Response of materials and structures to dynamic loading,
2. Numerical solutions,
3. Stability of inelastic structures,
4. Crushing and energy absorption of thin-walled structures,
5. Modelling and crash simulation
