Abstract

The author discusses Packer (Iain) v HM Advocate [2024] HCJAC 38 in which a
punishment part of 36 years was upheld on appeal following the appellant’s conviction for murder; an attempt to defeat the ends of justice in connection with the murder; and multiple sexual offences, including rape, which extended over a period of 26 years.
