Time, space and methodological pluralism

The six papers in this issue cover a wide range of topics, but they do have a common theme. All address the methodological problems of incorporating time and space into social science analysis. Time was at one time left to the historians, who focused on the past. We could draw lessons for the present, but this did not form part of social scientific explanations. As for space, most social science treated it as just where things happened rather than something with explanatory capacity.
