Abstract

We have previously identified associations between modes of hip shape variation using active shape modeling (ASM) and incident symptomatic radiographic hip OA. Given the biomechanical inter-relationships between the hips and knees, and prior associations between ipsilateral and contralateral joint OA at the hips and knees, we sought to assess potential associations between hip shape modes and prevalent radiographic knee OA.
