Abstract
As AI becomes more prevalent in various industries, the success of its integration into organisations hinges on the trust that humans place in this technology. Trust is vital in the widespread adoption of AI, as it determines how users perceive and interact with these intelligent machines. Anthropomorphism provides a rich perspective towards understanding human trust in AI. Thus, this paper examines human trust in AI in the African context and delves into the existing research on the determinants of human-AI trust relations over the past two decades. The study will utilise qualitative interviews to investigate participants' perspectives and experiences. Thirty individuals with experience working with AI will be selected purposively. The study contributes to trust and management research by investigating what features play a role in the human-AI trust-building process. Organisations can understand how to inspire confidence when implementing new AI systems.
