Book review: Multimodal Texts in Disciplinary Education: A Comprehensive Framework

Research output: Contribution to journalBook/Film/Article review

Abstract

In contemporary education, faculty members and students inevitably interact or engage with multimodal texts because educational texts are rarely monomodally presented. To address this issue, this book entitled Multimodal Texts in Disciplinary Education written by Kristina Danielsson and Staffan Selander, prominent Swedish scholars in both education and applied linguistics, is a welcome addition to multimodal discourse analysis (MDA). Inspired by Van Leeuwen, one of the most prominent figures in multimodality and social semiotics (Selander, 2018), the authors attempt to bring the issue of multimodality in disciplinary education to the fore.
