Abstract

Electrochemistry is by its own nature an interfacial science, in which the essential event is the transfer of charge across the interface between two bulk phases. From that point of view, Surface Electrochemistry, whose focus is precisely on the bidimensional region where the electron transfer happens, can be considered as the fundamental core of Electrochemistry. The breadth of topics covered in this issue, covering from fundamental studies of double-layer structure to electronic transport within proteins, is an attempt to highlight this central character of Surface Electrochemistry...
