Abstract
This is a reflective critique about ethical dilemmas inherent in refugee research, exemplified by the authors own reflexive enquiry from a study looking at the interphase between gender, displacement and work. The paper discusses the importance of challenging heterogenous assumptions awarded to refugee populations and the challenges that brings to reduce bias, accidental and ethical bypass. The paper discusses the implications for sustainable research design and researcher and participant welfare.
