Abstract
Composer. Intensely religious and private as a person, Falla is remembered for writing highly colourful and sensual music. This juxtaposition is evident in his close friendship with Stravinsky, evinced in their extensive correspondence and numerous handwritten dedications of scores, whose style, by turns sarcastic and devotional, demonstrates considerable intimacy. Stravinsky told Robert craft that Falla was ‘the most devoted of all my musical friends’ (Mem, 81).
