Fibrinolytic pathophysiologies: still the poor cousin of hemostasis?

Research output: Contribution to journalEditorialpeer-review

Abstract

The fibrinolytic system is primarily recognized for its physiological role in fibrin degradation. However, fundamental, translational, and clinical developments in fibrinolysis have been overshadowed by the spotlight on the coagulation cascade and the field of platelets. This issue of the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis celebrates its status as the official journal of the International Society for Fibrinolysis and Proteolysis with 3 review articles that highlight recent progress in the field of fibrinolysis.
