Abstract
Through discussion of Catholic women’s challenges to state anticlericalism, this chaper enriches our view of resistance through a wider understanding of marginality and relationships of power. Additionally it situates Catholic women’s organizing at the heart of the politics and day-to-day resistance in the conflict between state and church.
