Abstract

We demonstrate a giant flexoelectro-optic response characterized by an out-of-plane helical axis rotation of 53° in polymer-stabilized cholesteric doped with bimesogen. The presented electro-optic device measures a large flexoelastic ratio (e/K) of 2.758 CN−1 m−1 with a contrast ratio of 500:1 and response time of 0.43 ms.
