N2 - An improved structure determination of the title compound 1 has been accomplished. It consists of infinite double stranded chains which resemble a molecular ladder. Two different octahedral cobalt ions are present which connect the strands together. There are 8.4 water molecules per formulae unit, 2.4 of which are noncoordinating. The structure has a triclinic space group P1̄ with a = 10.8655(7) Å, b = 11.4362 (9) Å, and c = 13.6684(9) Å; α = 111.181(7)°, β = 93.417(9)° and γ = 99.542(9)°; V = 1548.5(2) Å3 and Z = 2.
