Abstract
An analysis of the association between PCDD/PCDF blood concentration and body-mass-index as well as age for 14 adults and 27 children is presented. Children between 6 and 16 years show lower values of TEQ [NATO/CCMS] compared with adults. There is a negative association between PCDD/PCDF blood concentration and body--mass-index. The equation for the calculation of the age and body-mass-index adjusted reference-values resulting from the data is: log TEQ = 1.39 + 0.018 * age [years] --0.227 * body - mass - index [gram/cm2]. Data of background blood concentration as well as blood concentration data of exposed populations should be adjusted for age and body-mass-index.
