OtherClimate change studies remold the relationships between the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. The former two areas previously focused on socio-cultural dynamics presupposing the nature as stable or backyard; however, in this new paradigm interactions between humans and nature, both of which are ever changing, become critical objects for exploration. This perspective has gained strength in contemporary climate policy and sustainability sciences, but it may also open new dimensions of anthro-history and human adaptability. Workshop 4 pursues this interaction-based line of inquiry while focusing on northern modes of foraging and domestication; it incorporates methodology from the fields of anthropology, archaeology, genetics, ecology, and geological sciences.
