Abstract

Perioperative dexamethasone has been used as an effective agent to prevent postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV).1 Glucocorticosteroids can reduce time to onset and increase duration of regional anaesthesia, and might improve postoperative analgesia.2,3 Because of its effectiveness in preventing PONV, its place in guidelines and lack of knowledge regarding its real-world use, it is important to document factors associated with dexamethasone use. We aimed to describe dexamethasone use in the international registry and quality improvement project PAIN OUT and to identify associated factors.
