Abstract

Biomarker research embraces many disciplines, using advances in high-throughput molecular biology and computers to measure molecules directly involved in the disease process. Importantly, translational medicine requires close collaboration between clinical researchers, to have accurate phenotypes and to be able to adjust for established prognostic factors. In practice, the predictors of biomarkers will need to be assessed alongside clinical phenotypic and demographic factors.
