Abstract
The results of a series of quasi-static and dynamic axial crushing tests on a range of fibre-reinforced tubes are described. Both empty tubes and tubes filled with polyurethane foam were tested. The failure mechanisms as well as the load-deflection characteristics are described. The effects of foam-filling in terms of increased stability and greater energy absorption capacity are emphasised.
