Abstract

There is an extensive literature on the incidence of anastomotic leakage but advice on management generally condemns attempts to repair the leaking anastomosis.
Two of the authors have recently 'salvaged' leaking colorectal anastomoses and this stimulated review of their joint experience over a 6-year period.
