Abstract
This, the first part of a two-part article, considers case law on the operation of the English sentencing guidelines for rape and certain other sexual offences, including sexual assault and child sex offences, focusing on the issue of when a victim is "particularly vulnerable due to personal circumstances" in terms of the guidelines.
