title = "Statistical and Probabilistic-based Decision aids for Offshore Wind Turbine Reliability",
abstract = "The reliability of a wind turbine or any system is a key parameter in decision-making to ascertain the level of assurance the system can actively remain in operation. It also provides support to make reasonable cost-benefit analysis, certain safety legislations required of the equipment as well as deciding suitable maintenance requirements or strategy for effective performance of the system. The use of accurate statistical data and probabilistic method is an effective aid to capture uncertainties that may lead to sudden failure of the system and consequently provide effective mitigation plans. Various classical and structural reliability methods to aid decision making are outlined in the paper, a step-by-step example in assessing the reliability of an offshore wind turbine is then provided.",
