N2 - We agree that climate change is a reality and is related to human activity, but a meat-free conference, as suggested by Morgan, is unlikely to help.1 The impact of meat production on the climate is multifactorial. Destruction of the Amazon for grazing livestock systems is clearly detrimental to the environment. In Scotland, however, farmers have made substantial progress in reducing emissions, which have fallen by 29.4% since 1990,2 with further reductions anticipated. A “plant good, meat bad” narrative is overly simplistic.
