Abstract
This abstract will cover the latest developments in digital outcrop modelling, showing how the convergence of disciplines and advances in technology are allowing us to realise the early potential shown in the early 2000s with the advent of lidar. The contribution will show how geoscientists are adopting digital outcrop methods in unprecedented numbers, and that challenges are still evident that should be addressed. We will illustrate the topic with three showcase examples: combining digital outcrop modelling with seismic modelling, the SAFARI outcrop analogue database, and preparing virtual field trips by combining many geoscience data sources.
