Examines the safety case regulatory model used by the UK's offshore oil and gas industry. Discusses its role as a risk mitigation and management tool, and outlines key features of its operation, including the independent verification schemes and permissions regime. Reflects on the criticisms of the safety case model, and whether its faults may be the result of faulty implementation.
