Abstract
Using blends of an organic polymeric material and sand and gravel, solid fuels of widely varying ash content are simulated and their thermal diffusivities are determined experimentally. The results are processed in terms of the product (thermal diffusivity x bulk density), as a function of the organic fraction, and tested against previously reported experimental results for high-ash low-rank coals, with very gratifying agreement.
