Abstract
Byrd's music was comprehensively neglected during the long eighteenth century, in his case 1695-1840, but a few antiquarians and performers (including the great painter Gainsborough) kept his name alive, and this article focuses on three hitherto unpublished circumstances in which his name and music cropped up.
