Urgent introduction of iPAD-based WPB programmatic assessment due to the COVID-19 pandemic for final year medical students

Research output: Contribution to conferencePosterpeer-review

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in severe disruption to academic assessment throughout the 2020 academic year with a number of medical school practical examinations, such as the final high-stakes Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs), being cancelled or changed at short notice. At the University of Aberdeen (UoA) an early decision for the 2021 academic year was made to institute additional programmatic assessment and gathering of evidence that could be presented to the exam board, should there be difficulties or restrictions in running an end of year OSCE examination in 2021. This cohort of students hadn’t had an OSCE examination in the previous year and the future possibility of running a final year OSCE was uncertain.
