Dr. Muhammad Imran Omar is a qualified medical doctor with a special interest in medical education and healthcare research. Dr Omar obtained his M.B,B.S degree from Dow Medical College (1993-1998). Dr Omar is certified as a Physician by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), USA, after clearing the United States Medical Licensing Exams (USMLE Step 1, USMLE Step 2 and Clinical Skills Assessment exam). Dr Omar is registered with the General Medical Council UK, and a Fellow of Higher Education Academy, UK. Dr Omar obtained Masters in, Health Services and Public Health Research from the University of Aberdeen (2009), and Masters in, Medical Education from the University of Dundee (2012). His areas of research interest include systematic reviews, evidence-based medicine, clinical practice guideline development, real world evidence and big data. We worked as Managing Editor for Cochrane Incontinence group for almost 5 years, and now works for the European Association of Urology as Guidelines Office Methodology Supervisor, Vice-Chair of the EAU Methods Committee, and a member of the EAU non-neurogenic female LUTS panel. Dr Omar is a member of GRADE Working Group, Cochrane Bias Methods Group, Cochrane Trainers’ Network, Cochrane Statistical Network, Cochrane Consumer Network, and an Editor of Cochrane Urology. Dr. Omar is based within the Academic Urology Unit of the University of Aberdeen.
My areas of research interest include systematic reviews, evidence-based medicine, clinical practice guideline development, real world evidence and big data.
I have almost twenty-years of teaching experience in England, Scotland, Saint Lucia, and Pakistan. I have completed Masters in Medical Education from the University of Dundee, for improving my knowledge and skills in curriculum development and teaching. In 2016, I became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy UK. I have supervised many undergraduate and post-graduate students.

Vice Chair, Methods Committee of the European Association of Urology Guideline Office, since 2020
I was initially invited to join the Methods Committee of the EAU as a member in September 2016 and was later promoted to Vice-Chair role. As Methods Committee Vice Chair, I provide methodological support to the 21 EAU Guideline panels and has developed important network across the Europe Union, USA, Canada and other countires.
Member Non-neurogenic Female LUTS panel of the European Association of Urology Guideline Office – since 2020
I was invited to join as panel member of the international guideline panel on Non-neurogenic Female LUTS by the European Association of Urology Guideline Office. We delivered the first international guideline on the same topic in 2021
Editor, Cochrane Urology – since 2017
I was invited to join the International Cochrane Collaboration as an Editor of the Cochrane Urology in September 2017.
